What is EthosND?
EthosND is a student-run organization dedicated to helping men grow in chastity and properly order sexual desire. The three pillars we rely on to accomplish this goal are accountability, brotherhood, and prayer. Recognizing the challenges young men face in today’s culture, EthosND offers a supportive and structured small-group environment where young men can take meaningful steps toward chastity and personal growth in their relationship with God.
How does EthosND operate?
EthosND is committed to helping young men at Notre Dame develop in chastity through group accountability. The organization places new members in confidential small groups, where students pair up as accountability partners for quick daily check-ins, fostering mutual encouragement in their shared journey toward greater chastity.
What is an EthosND small group?
EthosND small groups typically consist of two pairs of accountability partners, along with a small group leader who can provide further support and guidance. Small groups meet as a whole once per week.
What does an EthosND meeting look like?
Weekly small group meetings offer a safe space for deeper reflection, discussion, and accountability within a tight-knit brotherhood. Led by a dedicated leader, the meetings are brief (30 minutes) and include a discussion of how each member of the group has successfully (or unsuccessfully) lived chastely in the past week, along with a short reflection on a section from a provided reading.
What resources does EthosND offer?
Our program is rooted in a proven curriculum that integrates both spiritual and practical tools. Central to this are resources like Ethos by Josh Haskell, a book freely given to participants that includes weekly readings offering concrete advice, encouragement, and insights for cultivating purity of heart. Weekly small-group meetings include reflection and discussion on the readings, along with regular member check-ins.
Additionally, the University offers a voluntary Wi‑Fi filtering option that can be used to avoid accidental exposure and/or create a deliberate barrier against explicit content.
What is EthosND’s mission?
We know that the journey toward sexual integrity is challenging, but we believe that with faith, community, and a commitment to change, real freedom is possible. Our mission is to help men reclaim their dignity, renew their sense of purpose, and live out the virtues of purity and self-discipline with the help of God’s grace. Together, we strive to build a culture of strength, accountability, and spiritual resilience, empowering each man to live in alignment with his values and faith.
