Description:
First United Methodist Church is proud of its rich diversity of people. Everyone is welcome here.  First United Methodist Church is one of two Reconciling Methodist churches in South Bend.  As a Reconciling Church, First United Methodist Church "celebrates that LGBTQ+ persons are a good expression of God’s diverse creation and exists to advocate for the affirmation of all of God’s children in the Church and the world."  It "equips and mobilizes United Methodists to resist evil, injustice, and oppression as [it] seek[s] justice for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities."  First Church, located in the heart of the city, is also proud of its many social ministries: its Soup Kitchen (which has served over half a million meals), its Upper Room Ministry (for recovering alcoholics), its Food Pantry, and its active Scout Troop.
