Sunnyside Presbyterian Church is a congregation of about 600 diverse and active members. On a typical Sunday we have about 250 children, youth and adults who attend our 9:30 a.m. worship service. Sunnyside is best described as a traditional church that is open to creative programming and varied music. Our worship service follows a traditional order but allows for the use of contemporary music and messages. Our Bible Journey’s Sunday School program is organized into five workshops: games/computer, storytelling, drama, arts, and cinema. Children rotate among the classrooms studying the story or concept from the Bible using different methods. Our music program utilizes a beautifully refurbished pipe organ and a grand piano in the sanctuary. The adult Chancel Choir sings each week, using a variety of music styles. Our Handbell Choir performs monthly, as do our two children’s choirs. Sunnyside is active in our community through the Northeast Neighborhood Center, Advocacy Center, Habitat for Humanity, Center for the Homeless, Dismas House, and Hope Rescue Mission.
