Asian and Asian American Retreats

Culture, Community, and Fun!
The celebration of culture, identity, and community is paramount throughout the Asian and Asian American Student Retreats. The retreats are a chance for students of Asian descent, with their friends, to gather together and share the beauty of their backgrounds and explore how they can bring their personal experiences and gifts to the broader Notre Dame community.
Asian and Asian American Freshman and New Student Fall Retreat
This Retreat is where First-year students can come together to meet one another and the upperclass leaders, talk about their personal experiences, and have fun! It focuses on the topics of academics, spirituality, social life, family, and preparation for success at Notre Dame. The retreat leaders share their experiences through talks, while small group discussions provide a comfortable environment for dialogue. In addition, games, skits, and various other activities add a lot of fun and fellowship, helping to build lasting relationships.
This year’s Freshman Retreat is scheduled for: August 29 – 30, 2008 at the Sacred Heart Parish Center.
Asian and Asian American All-Class Winter Retreat
This retreat occurs every January and is completely run by student leaders. Each year, the Winter Retreat focuses on an aspect of cultural identity, heritage, or experience. The Retreat is an empowering moment to come together with friends to articulate one’s cultural identity and heritage, especially within the context of the Notre Dame experience. Through a combination of witness talks, small group discussions, and a variety of fun, interactive activities, the Retreat is a wonderful place to meet new friends, discuss personal experience, and have a great time. The Winter Retreat is open to all undergraduate students, but is especially geared towards Asian and Asian American students.
