Community Choir

The University of Notre Dame Basilica Collegium Choir, under the direction of Dr. Andrew McShane, is the community choir serving the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. The choir is comprised of men and women of all ages from the greater South Bend community as well as students, faculty and staff from the university. The choir’s two major functions are providing music for the 10 AM Solemn Mass in the Basilica during the summer months and singing for Midnight Mass on Christmas.

The mission of the choir is to provide the highest quality music in the basilica representing all musical periods for all who wish to sing. In recent years the choir has sung music by many contemporary composers including Lee Hoiby, Daniel Pinkam, Glen Rudolph and Robert Evans. Recent repertoire also includes music of Palestrina, Tallis, Haydn and Beethoven.
