Pastoral Care

Campus Ministry offers many additional services for the Notre Dame community. These include…
Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction is a time set aside to become aware of and to reflect upon the presence of God in one’s life. Anyone is invited to seek spiritual direction. Campus Ministry provides a list of available directors on our campus and will assist you in finding a director. Most often, spiritual direction sessions are an hour long and meet every 3 weeks, but length and frequency of meetings are determined by you and your spiritual director. For more information on spiritual direction and finding a spiritual director, please contact Tami Schmitz.
Grief Workshops
Support is available for those students who have recently lost loved ones. Grief groups are confidential, facilitated by caring staff members and meet four times each semester.
Please contact Tami Schmitz if you would like more information or are interested in participating in a group or know someone who would benefit from this opportunity.
Becoming Catholic / RCIA
RCIA consists of a series of stages of preparation, as well as rites (rituals), which take place over a period of anywhere from nine months to a few years. The RCIA originated in the earliest traditions of the Church for welcoming new members into the Catholic community.
Getting Confirmed
Are you ready to complete your initiation into the Catholic Church? The Sacrament of Confirmation is part of the initiation process into the Catholic community. Through the Sacrament, you are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer Requests
From the beginning the Church has honored the memory of the dead and offered prayers for them. To remember loved ones through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is to champion their eternal joy. The Vatican Council II affirmed, “This sacred council accepts loyally the venerable faith of our ancestors in the living communion which exists between us and our brothers who are in the glory of Heaven or who are yet purified after their death….” Therefore just as we pray for each other and share each other’s burdens now, the faithful on earth can offer prayers and sacrifices to help the departed souls undergoing purification. No better prayer could be offered than that of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
