Vocations to Religious Life

Priesthood and Brotherhood
“Come follow me.” It was the Lord Jesus calling us. We were already his for we bore the name of Christians. We had already been initiated into his church. We had been washed in baptism and confirmed in our belief and given the Eucharistic nourishment in memory of him. But there seemed to come a time when the Lord was calling us to take some further step.” (from the Constitutions of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Constitution 1 God’s call)
For those who are just beginning or to think about a priestly or a religious vocation or a vocation to those who are ready to explore the steps to make some commitment, Campus Ministry is here to assist in your discernment.

Brother Andre Dinners
Blessed Brother Andre was a Holy Cross Brother who lived and ministered in Montreal Canada at the turn of the century. He founded the Oratory of St. Joseph in Montreal and was know as the “Miracle Worker of Montreal” due to the many miraculous physical healings that were attributed to his intercession.
For three evenings in the month of February, the Office of Vocations is hosts the Brother Andre Dinners. It begins with the Evening Prayer of the Church at 5:30pm in the Log Chapel near Bond Hall and continues with dinner in the COMO lounge. Each evening, Holy Cross religious speak about issues to assist young men in their discernment and to help them come to better know the Congregation of Holy Cross. There will be time for questions and each evening will be concluded by 7:30pm.

FIAT – A discernment group for women
If you are feeling called to religious life or just curious about being a sister or nun, consider coming to Fiat. The group meets monthly for presentations, discussion, prayer, and meals. This group was a new initiative at Notre Dame in 2007 and one student commented, “Fiat has given me so much hope and guidance on my spiritual journey, whether I am called to religious life or not…it is a wonderful opportunity for girls to grow in their relationship with Christ, their understanding of themselves, and their understanding of who Christ calls them to be.” Come join us!
